ORDINARY GENERAL MEETING

2. Minutes of previous meeting
The minutes of the previous meeting (Auckland, 22
November 1998) were circulated and accepted. Moved Jim Marshall,
seconded Ivan Snook.
3. Business arising
Matters arising were dealt with under other items
on the agenda.
4. President's Report
The report was distributed and accepted. Moved Patrick
Fitzsimons, seconded Greg Heath.
5. Business arising
The President highlighted the need to attract new
members and comment was made that there was a need to give longer
notice of PESA annual conferences so that interested persons may
plan to attend.
The President pointed out that no Newsletter was published
in the year due to lack of copy (despite three adverts requesting
submissions). It was commented that there would be no need for a
Newsletter if members had a page on the PESA website. PESA should
invest the required money to develop its own website. An email list
was suggested based on John Roe's list of paid up members.
The President reported on progress towards INPE conference
2000. Kevin Harris and Bruce Haynes pointed out they had not received
the mailed out information re INPE.
Bruce Haynes raised the issue of Fellows. Executive
is meant to consider this issue each year for recommendation to
the OGM.
6. EPAT Editor's report
Michael Peters was unable to attend as he had undergone
an operation. A written report was circulated and accepted. Moved
Felicity Haynes, seconded Margaret Freund.
Several members received multiple copies of EPAT.
John Roe to advise Carfax.
7. EPAT financial report
Paul Hager spoke to this matter.
8. PESA financial report
John Roe circulated the 1998-1999 financial report
and it was accepted. Moved Peter Fitzsimons, seconded Bruce Haynes
9. Business arising
It was suggested that PESA use some of its funds to
support attendance at INPE by persons under the age of 35 or by
persons from foreign countries.
The question was raised as to whether GST was payable
on membership of PESA.
10. Election of new executive
President: Greg Heath. Moved Peter Fitzsimons, seconded
Jim Marshall.
Vice President: Patrick Fitzsimons. Moved Bruce Haynes,
seconded Jim Marshall.
Secretary: Bruce Haynes. Moved Ivan Snook, seconded
Felicity Haynes.
Treasurer: David Beckett: Moved Paul Hager, seconded
Peter Fitzsimons.
Archivist: Kathy Forster. Moved Felicity Haynes, seconded
Kevin Harris.
Trans-Tasman representative:
Immediate Past-President: Marjorie O'Loughlin
11. PESA 2000 Conference
Greg Heath assumed the Chair at this point.
Marjorie O'Loughlin is organiser of INPE and PESA
members were invited to attend and present papers at INPE.
Kevin Harris suggested PESA have an additional day
at INPE.
After some discussion it was moved and passed that
Given that INPE is in Sydney in 2000, PESA not hold an annual conference
in 2000 but requests that INPE schedules PESA OGM and dinner as
part of the INPE conference. Moved Kevin Harris, seconded Patrick
Fitzsimons.
After further discussion it was moved and passed that
PESA make a donation of $500 to the INPE conference organisers and
that this help be acknowledged. Moved Paul Hager, seconded Patrick
Fitzsimons.
There being no other business the meeting was declared
closed and the 1999 PESA Conference was thereby concluded.
